Year 12 students from the outback town of Menindee, NSW, Australia chose to come to Vanuatu in September 2019.

They spent the first few days based in Port Vila visiting the chocolate factory, fashion and art galleries, Hideaway Island as well as ziplining, waterfall tours, enjoying fire dancers, a movie at the cinema, cultural performances and the Vanuatu Cultural Centre.

On the first day, they spent the afternoon at Honeymoon Beach in Pango which is approximately 20 minutes drive from Vila.

The group had travelled a long way the day before coming from Broken Hill on the far side of NSW to Vanuatu via Sydney. They were in transit all day and arrived late the night before. They should have slept well that night. Luckily, the beds at Kaiviti Hotel are comfortable and the air conditioning is welcome on hot, humid nights.

Maggie was a demon at beach volleyball. Who knew? It's a long way to the beach from Menindee... the nearest one would be in South Australia, 500 km south.

This overseas excursion was organised with the assistance WorldStrides in Australia. Thanks to Karene Phillips of WorldStrides for helping to make this visit possible!
